Marimar episode 86 – The one where Sergio and Innocencia Kissed
January 31, 2008

Marimar Episode 86 – The one where Marimar Finds Innocencia & Sergio KissingAired in the UAE on 17th December 2007, Monday.
Sergio is sleeping on the sofa, too drunk to go upstairs in his room. Innocencia arrives and calls him. The door is open so she lets herself in. There are tall glass panels that serve as windows showing the outside what is in.
Fulgoso is concerned for his friend’s state and laments, “Dios mio, kelan ba magiging masaya itong si Marimar? Lagi na lang malungkot.” (Until when will all this sadness be in your life?)
Fifi replies, “Kasi naman ayaw pang aminin na mahal niya si Sergio.” (Well why doesn’t she just go and admit that she still loves Sergio?)
Fulgoso reasons, “Kasi mahirap aminin.” (It’s not that easy.)
Marimar is driving as she calls Arturo on the cell phone to ask him a question.
Innocencia goes to the sleeping Sergio and holds his hand; lovingly putting it in hers as she talks to the man she loves. “Bakit pinagpipilitan pa ang sarili mo kay Marimar? Ilang beses ka na niyang pinagtabuyan pero nandiyan ka pa rin. Kelan mo ba siya makakalimutan?” (Why do you keep insisting for Marimar to love you when she has so many times sent you away, still you remain. When will you forget her?)
Dra. Ria tells Renato to rest as his therapy starts tomorrow. Renato asks her to stay a while and talk, he asks her about her life. “Boring ang buhay ko,” (my life is boring) was all she can say. Renato jokes that if she tells him about it, it will help put him to sleep if it really is that boring. Ria shares a smile with her patient. Renato asks her about her parents, whether she has any siblings…Ria relates that both her parents live in the States and that she is an only child. “Yun na yon,” (that’s that) she declares without further elaborating on any more details. Renato agrees, “Boring nga” (boring indeed). Both doctor and patient share another smile. Uuuy mukhang nagkaka-igihan na tong dalawang ito! Sabagay mabait si Ria unlike Angelika who was such a user. Sige na nga! Although I’m still hoping Renato meets Tia Esperanza and something happens there…parang bagay kasi sila. They’d complement one another well.
Angelika urges her friend Monica to drink with her. Monica cautions her to keep the noise down as Diego is already asleep. Angelika raises her voice all the more, forcing Monica to drink with her as she declares, “Damayan mo ako sa problema ko.” (Come join me in my sorrows.)
Innocencia tells Sergio that she loves him. “Tutuluungan kitang makalimutan si Marimar. Hindi kita iiwan. Mahal na mahal kita Sergio.” (I will help you forget Marimar. I will never leave you, I love you so much Sergio) I feel for Innocencia. She is a good person and her only mistake was falling for the same guy as Angelika and Marimar. Swerte ni Sergio no! Daming pretty girls all out for him!
Angelika looks at the bright side, “Kahit nanalo na si Marimar, talunan pa rin siya.” (Even if Marimar won, she is still a loser.)
Monica, being rather slow on the uptake, questions her friend’s statement. “How can you say that? Ganda-ganda na ng buhay ni Marimar.” (Marimar has such a great life now)
Angelika agrees, “Oo mayaman siya, maganda, famous, pero talunan pa rin siya. Hindi siya masaya dahil wala sa kanya si Sergio.” (Yes she may be rich, beautiful and famous but she is still a loser because she doesn’t have Sergio.) Itong isang to kung magsalita, kala mo nasa kanya si Sergio! Eh sa kanya lalong wala na talaga si Sergio…di ba nya naisip yon?
Innocencia couldn’t help herself. She hesitates at first but the moment gets the better of her as she leans in to kiss Sergio. He grabs her dreaming that he is instead kissing the woman he loves, as he calls out her name, “Marimar…”
Innocencia pauses, “Marimar?”
Sergio talks in his sleep, “Sabi ko na ba ako pipiliin mo. Ako mahal mo di ba? Napakalungkot ko kung wala ka. Sabihin mo mahal mo ako di ba?” (I knew it, you’d pick me because you love me, right? I’d be so sad without you. Tell me you love me, you do love me right?)
Angelika considers it her triumph, separating Marimar and Sergio as she makes a toast with Monica, “Sana habang buhay silang miserable!” (I wish them a lifetime of misery!)
Innocencia forces herself to believe Sergio is talking to her. She replies, “Sergio, mahal na mahal kita.” Sergio still dreaming grabs her and kisses her thinking she is Marimar. Innocencia gives in to her feelings and pretends Sergio means this kiss to be for her and not Marimar.
Dr. Ria and Renato had a nice time chatting she hardly noticed the time. She exclaims, “Nine na pala, kailangan ko nang umalis.” (It’s 9pm, I need to go) Renato protests but she assures him, “Babalik ako bukas.” (I’ll return tomorrow) Eager, he asks “Anong oras?” (Which time?) She smiles at him as she replies, “tanghali.” (Noon.) He protests, “Tagal naman!” (That long) and adds, “Sana bukas pag-gising ko, nandito ka na.” (I wish tomorrow when I wake up, you’re already here.) There is a tenderness in the wish that gives the pretty doctor an awkward moment which she quickly brushes aside by her own protestations, “Napaka-demanding mo naman!” (You’re so demanding!) She adds that he is not the only patient she is seeing in the hospital. Though to us viewers it appears to be so. hehehehe.
Renato pursues, “Saan ka pupunta?” (Where are you going?) Ria offers a vague answer, “May ime-meet lang.” (Just meeting someone.) Renato is curious, “Boyfriend?” She denies it, “wala.” He asks the dreaded question, “Asawa?” (Husband) She gives him hope with her answer, “Wala.” (No)
Corazon and another household help talk about Marimar’s earlier walkout drama in the church. It must be the hottest gossip in the Aldama household with Corazon probably the best source being the closest to Marimar.
Meantime, she is at the gate of Sergio’s house. She hesitates as she mulls over the next step, “Ewan ko kung tama itong gagawin ko, bahala na…pero handa na akong sabihin sa iyo ang totoo.” (I don’t know if what I’m doing is the right thing but I’m ready to tell you how I truly feel.) She takes a big breath as she steels herself for what she is about to do.
Corazon enjoys being the source of all the hottest goss as she shares the latest bit of information with her colleague, “Punta siya kay Sir Sergio, mag-talks. Sana magkabalikan na sila.” (She went to see Sergio and have a heart-to-heart talk. I hope they get back together.) She’s been the staunchest supporter of the Sergio-Marimar love affair ever since the two got together and is clearly excited about the two getting back together.
Marimar walks up Sergio’s flat and through the glass panel, she sees Innocencia and Sergio wrapped in each other’s arms and kissing passionately. She takes a step back in her shock. A moment longer, she sighs in resignation and leaves; saddened by what she just witnessed.
On the other side of the glass, Innocencia smiles in bliss, happy to kiss and embrace the man she truly loves.
In the car, Marimar drives like a raging lunatic cursing Sergio and her love for him. “Hayop ka Sergio, hayop ka!” (damn you Sergio!) She cries, blaming herself for being too soft, “Ang tanga-tanga ko!” (How could I be so stupid?) She suffers from her love for this one man who continues to hurt her the most, “Hanggang kailan mo ako papa-iyakin?” (Until when are you going to make me cry?) She cries in jealous rage as she questions, “Hanggang kailan?”
Marimar arrives home with slumped shoulders. Fulgoso exclaims, “Dios mio Marimar, ang bilis mong nakauwi! Nagkabalikan na ba kayo ni Sergio?” (back so soon, so did you make up with Sergio?) Of course, Marimar doesn’t hear him like we do so Corazon asks a similar question but she notices that Marimar doesn’t look well.
Marimar cries, “Di na lang sana ako nagpunta doon.” (I wish I didn’t go there.) Corazon wants her to explain her current state, “Ano ba ang nangyari?” (What happened?) But Marimar is still caught up in self-pity, “Di ko na lang sana hinayaan ang sarili kong umasa sa wala.” (I wish I’d stop myself from hoping.)
Corazon shakes her out of her misery wanting Marimar to tell her exactly what happened. “Di ko makaintindi, ‘Day!” (I don’t understand) Fulgoso seconds the motion, “Me too! You what’s going on?”
(I saw Sergio and Innocencia kissing. No wonder Innocencia betrayed me, she and Sergio are having an affair. First it was Angelika, now it’s Innocencia.)
Corazon tries to calm her down, giving a different point of view, “Teka, sure ba ka Inday? Baka yung nakita nimo na parang naghahalikan baka nag-uusap lang.” (Are you truly sure? Maybe they are just talking and it appears like they were kissing.) Oo nga naman, remember Marimar your pictures with Choi which Angelika used to anger Sergio? Give him the benefit nga naman of the doubt.
But Marimar defends what she saw, “Hindi ako bulag!” (I’m not blind!)
Corazon refuses to believe it knowing well how Sergio loves Marimar, “Hindi magagawa ni Sir Sergio yon. Mahal na mahal ko niya. May lihim na pagtingin kay Sir Sergio si Innocencia.” (Sergio won’t do something like that. It’s Innocencia who has secret feelings for Sergio.) Well Corazon, it’s no longer a lihim at bonggang-bonggang bunyang na with what she has done!
Marimar doesn’t want to hear anymore explanations, “Tama na! Lagi mo na lang pinagtatanggol ang lalaking yan! Wala shang kwentang tao. Hindi siya dapat iyakan at hindi sya dapat mahalin!” (Enough, you are always defending him! I shouldn’t even be crying over a useless man like him and he doesn’t deserve to be loved!)
The next day at the Santibanez Motors office, Arturo and Innocencia are talking. Arturo is babbling on about a crush but Innocencia is not interested. She is quite distracted about something but Arturo doesn’t know what is bothering her. She asks Arturo if Sergio is OK. She explains to the gay driver that when she found him last night, Sergio was already asleep. Sergio joins their conversation, overhearing Innocencia’s comment, “Galing ka sa bahay?” (You went to my home?)
Marimar asks Atty. Romualdez to represent the company on her behalf. She asks about plane tickets and the lawyer replies that she got them booked as Marimar requested. Rodolfo arrives and hearing about booked tickets and he asks his ex-fiancée, “Going away somewhere?”
Arturo leaves the two as Innocencia asks Sergio, “Wala ka bang natatandaan?” (Don’t you remember anything?) Sergio prods her for more information as everything seems hazy from his end, “Bakit, may nangyari ba kagabi?” (Why, did anything happen last night?) Innocencia is quite disappointed that the man she loves doesn’t even remember what she may consider as the sweetest moment of her life. She lies, “Wala.” (Nothing.)
Marimar plainly tells Rodolfo the facts, “Babalik ako sa America, magpapahinga muna roon.” (I’m going back to America, get some rest.) Rodolfo is sarcastic when he asks, “Tatakasan mo ang mga usap-usapan about us?” (You’re escaping from all this gossip about us?) Marimar realises she hasn’t properly asked forgiveness from Rodolfo for what she’s done to him. She quickly apologises, “Sorry, malaki ang kasalanan ko sa iyo.” (I’m sorry. I know I did something really bad and I know I owe you a huge apology.) Ehem excuse me Rodolfo, there is no “us”! Hindi naman naging kayo ni Marimar ah!
Sergio, Antonio and Innocencia are in a discussion. Antonio is making a report but Sergio is distracted, his mind clearly on something else.
Rodolfo is bitter, “Iniwanan mo ako sa simbahan. Galit na galit ako sa iyo. Nakita ko yung mga tingin sa akin ng mga tao. Awang-awa sila sa akin. Gusto kitang awayin! Pero na-realise ko rin na di lang naman ikaw ang may kasalanan, ako din. Sa umpisa pa lang, alam kong hindi mo ako mahal pero pinilit ko pa rin.” (You left me at the altar. I was so mad at you. I saw how the people were looking at me, feeling sorry for me. I wanted to get back at you but I realised you’re not the only person to blame here. Since the beginning I knew you didn’t love me but still I persisted.)
He sighs, but continues to talk, hoping perhaps to get closure over what happened. “Sayang, I do believe we’re a good match pero huwag kang mag-alala. Hindi ko na pagpipilitan ang sarili ko sa iyo. Tanggap ko na na hindi tayo para sa isa’t isa.” (A pity, but I won’t force myself on you anymore. I’ve come to accept the fact that we are not meant for each other.) Wow Rodolfo is coming out to be the bigger person here and quite the gentleman! O baka naman palabas nya lang ito para makapag-higanti kay Marimar ng bonggang-bongga ha? Ika nga, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Ano nga kaya?
Marimar appears truly relieved that they have put things aside and she offers, “Rodolfo, pwede naman tayong magkaibigan di ba?” (We could still be friends.) He smiles, the old, suave Rodolfo is back, “I don’t see why not.” They hug but what Marimar doesn’t see is how sad Rodolfo looks.
Arturo approaches Sergio, “Bossing.” Sergio shushes him to keep quiet as he is still nursing a bad hangover, “Sakit ulo ko!” Arturo talks softly, “Di natuloy ang kasal ni Marimar at Rodolfo” and shows Sergio the newspaper. (Marimar and Rodolfo’s wedding got cancelled.)
Sergio calls Corazon, telling his old yaya that he wants to talk to Marimar. Corazon blurts out that she is busy with preparations as she is leaving for the US.
Marimar walks with Rodolfo in the Aldama building’s lobby. Rodolfo asks, “Kelan ang alis nyo?” (When are you leaving?) Marimar informs him, “sa Miyerkules.” (This Wednesday.) He notes, “Nagmamadali ka ah.” (Why the rush?)
Just then, Sergio arrives and on his heels Marimar’s security detail alert at the possibility of a confrontation. Rodolfo acknowledges him, “Santibanez” but Sergio goes straight to the point, telling Marimar that they need to talk. He warns Rodolfo from interfering, “Huwag kang makialam, usapang pamilya ito. Aalis kayo?” (Don’t interfere this is between family, you’re leaving?) Anger is etched in Sergio’s question.
Marimar snaps, “wala kang karapatan sa amin!”(You have no right over me!) The memory of Sergio and Innocencia still fresh in her mind.
Sergio agrees that over her, he has no power but he has rights over Cruzita reminding Marimar that he is the father. But Marimar tells him with finality, “Hindi mo na siya makikita.” (You’ll never see her again.)
Sergio tries to struggle against the men who now grabbed his arms, “Alam ko ako lang mahal mo, akin ka lang!” (I know, you love me. You’re mine!) Marimar tells her men, “Paalisin nyo siya.” (Take him away.) They pull Sergio away from Marimar and Rodolfo.
Angelika meets a new man – she appraises him thinking to herself that she could find some use for him as she seeks her vengeance from her most hated enemy, Marimar.

Marimar Episode 52 – The one with the US trip, there and back again
Sergio is very angry and takes Arturo with him to his office. He wants to call Angelika at Villa Santibanez, to confront her; he doesn’t know that they’ve left the country for Paris. Antonio gives Sergio an important letter from Kim and he tells Sergio to read it at once.
Sergio opens the letter and voice-over of Kim says: “I’ve decided to do the smart thing in life. I guess you can’t win them all. I’m admitting defeat.”
We see Kim crying as she prepares her things, deciding to leave Manila and Sergio so she can move on wit her life and find her own happiness.
Her voice-over continues, “Kahit anong gawin ko di mabubura ang nakaraan mo. Hindi maalis si Marimar sa puso mo.”
She now accepts that Sergio is still in love with Marimar and so she must give him time to find her. She is indeed quite a good person after all.
Kim adds, “Please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. And to show you na walang sama ng loob sa dibdib ko…”
Sergio reads the last lines, “eto and address kung saan mo matatagpuan si Marimar.”
Kim gave Sergio the address where she kept seeing Marimar, which is actually Innocencia’s address.
Innocencia is very excited about their trip. She is all packed and ready and Marimar is helping her do last minute checks in their old home. Both women are scared because they feel that they are not very good English speakers. Marimar tells Innocencia she is better of, having had some formal education but she is totally an ignorant country lass who doesn’t even know how to read properly in her first language.
Fulgoso bids farewell to Fifi calling her, “my ex-honey”.
Fifi asks Fulgoso to stay or at least take her with him to the US. “Fulgoso please don’t leave me, I love you. Isama mo ako sa States, bagay ang beauty for doon!”
Sergio is shocked that Kim knows where Marimar lives. He wants to find out what this means but Arturo reminds him to forget about that and immediately go to the given address if he wants to find his wife that badly.
Innocencia leaves their old house to their neighbors who are very thankful to be able to live there without any rent. Innocencia just made them promise to take good care of the house. She tells the couple that it’s old but she and her mother love the old place very much. It is after all, home. They thank Innocencia again but the young lady tells them she should be the one to thank them for they will be looking after the house for her and her mother. When they ask where she is going, she happily tells them that she and Marimar are going to the USA.
Kim is still in her suite although she has finished packing. She is crying, obviously letting Sergio go is painful and a sad thing for her to do. Her phone rings and she sees that it is Sergio. Having decided to let him go, she ignores his call and doesn’t answer.
Kim talks to Sergio in her mind, “Paalam Sergio. Sana maging masaya ka sa piling ni Marimar. At sana maging masaya na rin ako.” (Oh, I love Kim now, she’s so sublime! Sabagay, she can see how Sergio truly loves Marimar and having known Bella, she can see she is a good person – I wish Kim will find a nice man who will love her and make her happy. She deserves it!)
Sergio is in the car with Arturo driving. He looks quite eager to get to he place, wanting to see his wife whom he’s missed for over a year now. He calls Antonio and asks him to contact Kim who he can’t seem to contact. He wants to find out how she knew about Marimar’s location. Obviously he wants to ask her so many questions, but maybe also to thank her and wish her well.
Marimar and Innocencia board the van as Sergio and Arturo’s jeep stop at the corner store.
Inside the van, the driver asks if they are going straight to the airport. Marimar confirms this telling the driver that her aunt and Cruzita will meet them there.
Sergio gets out of the jeep to talk to a man for directions. Arturo goes out too. As they talk to the man, the van passes by with Marimar and Innocencia inside. The guys and girls were facing at opposite directions and didn’t see each other.
Inside the van, Marimar tells Innocencia, “Kinakabahan ako na natutuwa na kinakabahan, ewan ko ba. Di kaya tayo mahirapan doon?” (I’m nervous and happy and excited and scared all at the same time. Wouldn’t we find it difficult living in a strange country?)
Innocencia is confident. “Siguro sa simula pero magtutulungan tayo para makayanan natin.” (Maybe it will be hard at first but they will help one another to overcome any obstacles.)
Sergio confirms the address, “Number eight Lamayan street, Sta. Ana, Metro Manila.” and is pointed to a certain direction by the man he asked directions from. Arturo and him excited follow his instructions.
Marimar tells Innocencia that she does want to start over again and get a new life. Yet she is sad because she feels that she will be leaving behind almost one half of her life, her old life, behind.
Sergio and Arturo find the house but the doors are all pad-locked and no one seems to be around. They ask some neighbors. A lady tells them that no one by the name of Marimar lives there but describes another lady, Bella who fits Marimar’s exact description including a large brown dog – Sergio and Arturo both exclaim, “Si Fulgoso!” The lady tells them Leonor and her daughter who used to live there moved to live in another place. But the daughter and Bella have just left and rumor has it that they are bound for the airport to go to America.
Sergio and Arturo thank her and rush to the jeep to make it to the airport – hopefully they reach Marimar in time.
Marimar and Innocencia get their luggage and Fulgoso checked in. Esperanza gives Innocencia all their passports and documents.
Marimar asks her aunt if it is really not possible for her to accompany them. Esperanza regrets it but she has a lot to do in their company. She tells Marimar not to worry as their housekeeper in the US already knows they are coming and they are expected. There will be people there who will meet and assist them until they get settled.
Innocencia tells Esperanza, “Maam, kayo na po bahala kay Inay.”
Esperanza replies, “Wag kang mag-alala, akong bahala sa inay mo. Basta alagaan at alalayan mo si Marimar at Cruzita ha?”
Innocencia tells her, “Magtutulungan po kami. Magiging lakas namin ang isa’t isa.” (Why is she wearing a sleeveless dress – she is bound for the US and surely it is cold on the plane!)
Esperanza tells Marimar to be careful. “Kaya mo it, at kung meron ka man kailangan, isang tawag lang.”
“Miss ko po kayo.” (I’ll miss you.)
“Tandaan mo hija, isang bagong buhay ang naghihintay sa iyo roon.” (Remember that a new life awaits you there.)
Sergio is impatient to get to the airport. He tells Arturo to drive faster.
Esperanza talks to Cruzita and tells her she will miss her. She tells the two young ladies that it is nearly their boarding time. She should go. She reminds them to find their correct gate.
She tells Marimar to pray as they hug and kiss. Both are obviously putting up brave faces and try hard to stop tears from falling.
When Esperanza has left, Marimar sits next to Innocencia.
Sergio wants the car to go much faster, Arturo tries hard to drive at full speed.
Marimar remembers a time when she and Sergio were dining. She asks him how it feels to be on a plane. He tells her about the vibrations. Marimar is afraid she’d get dizzy if she were riding one. Sergio demonstrates what he would do if she felt dizzy. First he will hold her hand tightly and next he will place her head on his shoulders so she wouldn’t feel so dizzy. What a sweet moment! We see Marimar is crying as she remembers how she used to be so in love with Sergio.
It’s their boarding call. Innocencia sees Marimar crying and tells her, “Hangga’t andito pa tayo, kung ano man ang desisyon mo. Susuportahan kita.” (While we are still here, whatever your decision will be, I will support you.)
It’s their last boarding call. Innocencia asks for her friend’s decision, “Anong pasya mo, Marimar?”
(It’s time for me to leave this place. There is nothing that keeps me from staying here anymore. I want to return here as another person. I want to leave Marimar behind, the one who is naive and ignorant that easily got fooled and whom people laughed at.)
She stands, ready to leave and declares, “Wala na ang Marimar na tatanga-tanga. Isang Bella Aldama na ang haharap sa kanila.” (Gone is the naive Marimar. In her place is a new Bella Aldama who will face them all.)
Sergio runs inside, he can’t get in fast enough as first he didn’t have any travel documents with him. He was able to convince them to let him in and he goes to the check-in counter looking for a “Marimar Santibanez”. The clerk tells him no one by that name checked in.
He continues to look around but is getting quite frustrated. He was about to come up the escalator but the guards prevent him from going any further. Just a few second earlier, had he looked up, he would have seen Marimar and Innocecia at the top of the escalator stairs.
Sergio is now outside the airport and he is looking frustrated. Arturo tries to come and be with him but he sends his gay friend away. He sits by the pavement – Marimar was almost at his grasp and yet he remains alone.
Sergio finds Antonio is the pub they also frequent. He asks him to contact Kim as he needs to know how she met Marimar, how she knew where his wife lives, etc. Antonio tells him he saw Kim with Marimar on that day in the restaurant where they say Kim’s car parked nearby.
Sergio is upset that Antonio knew and yet kept it a secret from him. “Kaibigan ba kita? Binayaran ka ba niya?” (Are you really my friend or did she pay you?)
“Hindi ako mukhang pera.” (She didn’t pay me and I’m not like that.)
“Hindi ka lang mukhang pera, traydor ka pa!” (You’re not only that, you’re a traitor as well!)
Sergio and Antonio push one another passing insults between them. Antonio walks away.
We find Sergio slumped by his jeep. He sits on the floor and has obviously drunk a lot. He cries, truly in pain. He plays with a Swiss army knife in one hand.
It’s been days and in their office, Arturo talks to Antonio and asks him to talk to Sergio. Antonio tells Arturo he can’t as Sergio is still upset with him. Arturo reveals he too has some failings and can’t approach Sergio.
Antonio goes to Sergio and tells him, “Pare tama na yan baka kung ano pa mangyari sa katawan mo.” He wants his friend to stop drinking, maybe he will be ill if he doesn’t stop.
Antonio, “Kung mahal mo si Marimar, itigil mo iyan. Ayusin mo buhay mo.” (If you really love Marimar, you’ll try to fix your life.)
Arturo, “Huwag kang mawawalan ng pag-asa.” (Don’t ever lose hope)
Sergio, “Pagod na ako sa kaka-antay, kaka-asa, pagod na ako mabuhay.” (I’m so tired of waiting, so tired of hoping, so tired of living.)
Antonio feels truly sad for his friend. He wants to help him so he asks for another chance and promises that this time, they will not leave him alone hanging. “Tuloy lang ang buhay. Give us a chance. Ngayon pare, wala na talagang iwanan.”
The clock ticks, time passes. It is now four years later.
Sergio is in a meeting with his team and he is upset that their sales have gone lower by 30 per cent compared to previous months. Looks like our hunky racer has kept himself busy managing the business he and Kim with Antonio’s help started. It is apparent that he’d been a slave driver even to his staff as it is lunch time and they are still in the meeting. Atonio walks out of the meeting and Arturo convinces him to have lunch. Arturo is now a staff of the company and a full-fledge gay. Sergio comes out of the meeting, his friends tell him to take a break and go for lunch but he seems serious and tells them he can’t afford to take a break. Both Arturo and Antonio remind him that it’s been four years, “puro trabaho na lang inatupag mo.” and advise him to take a vacation, travel, take a break.
Meanwhile, at the Villa Santibanez, Monica looks at a gold ring given to her by Diego. They appear to have gotten married and continue to call one another, ‘babe’. It also looks like they have the run of the place, being Angelika’s best friend. She calls Perfecta and orders her to prepare some food for her and Diego. Diego, who now talks, adds a request for beer. Monica also complains about how their room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. Perfecta takes this all with a straight face which quickly turned into a smirk once she was out of their sight. She complains to Nicandro about the two acting as if they own the place. Nicandro assures her that he heard both Angelika and Renato are returning soon.
At the airport, Angelika checks in the immigration. The officer asks her, “Bakasyon lang maam?” whether she’s coming for a vacation, but Angelika answers with certainty, “No, I’m back…for good.” As her passport gets stamped she returns to Manila after four years of living in Paris. The question everyone is asking at this point is, where is Renato? And, why aren’t they together?
Angelika walks past a little girl holding a stuffed toy. The child asks her, “Excuse me, I’m looking for my dog.” Instead of being nice to a little girl, Angelika takes the nasty approach and tells the child she’s seen her dog get smashed, head flying off and now dead. Happy to have scared someone, she walks off as cruel and nasty as ever.
The little girl is Cruzita, now four and she runs to Innocencia crying. The loyal ex-secretary of Sergio, now friend and confidante of Marimar is now as pretty as she once was, no longer sporting that ugly scar Angelika herself had once branded on her left cheeks. She tells Cruzita that her mommy is making sure Fulgoso has arrived safely and is now taking the dog to join them.
Of course our naive country lass is now transformed into someone in high heels, short skirt and unbuttoned blouse (all that education and she still doesn’t know how to button her blouse!) and red, red lipstick. She calls her Tia Esperanza telling her they arrived earlier than expected. Esperanza is glad that they have arrived safely. She tells her niece that all is ready, delicious food and clean rooms for all of them.
Sergio is back at the office, still in a sour mood. Their stocks are held in customs and he’s been pushing for it to be released as soon as possible. He calls Antonio and asks him to ensure it goes through.
Everyone at the Aldama household is excited and ready to greet the balikbayans. Innocencia and Cruzita with Fulgoso arrive first. Innocencia hugs her mother as Leonor exclaims that her daughter looks more beautiful than ever, noting the disappearance of the ugly scar. Then the kind lady stoops down to Cruzita and asks her, “Do you still remember your Lola Leonor?”
She is surprised when Cruzita answered in Tagalog. Innocencia explained that Marimar raised Cruzita to be bi-lingual so she knows how to speak in both English and Tagalog from the start.
Leonor asks where Bella is now that everyone else is here. Another car stops and out comes a woman with straight hair, black shades, red lips, complete make-up and a confident smile. Welcome back Marimar!

Marimar Episode 34 – The One Where Marimar Gets Shot
Angelika is so much more upset having intercepted Sergio’s package for Marimar because in it shows a passport, ticket and papers to enable Marimar to join Sergio in Macau. This she can never, ever allow.
Just as Marimar had finished burying her grandparents on top of the hill in their island, police came take Marimar away despite Padre Porres’ pleadings to give her some more time. They take Marimar to an isolated hilly place where Angelika and Nicandro await with their evil plan.
In Macau, Sergio takes a picture of Marimar from his wallet and stares at it lovingly. He tells his wife that this first race is dedicated for her and he can’t wait for her to arrive in Macau so they can be together. He also regrets that he never told her he loved her. He promises, “Pag magkasama na tayo, ipagsisigawan ko sa buong mundo na mahal na mahal kita. Araw-araw ko sasabihin sa iyo na mahal na mahal kita.” (When we’re together, I will shout to the whole world just how much I love you. I will tell you every day that I truly love you so.)
Back at the hill, Angelika informs Marimar that she had dropped all charges against the latter. Meantime in the Santibanez resort, Natalie informs Choi that he is now being hunted down by the police having helped Marimar escape. When Choi reasons out to his childhood friend that he did not escape nor did they (with Marimar) try to, but some group actually did it, Natalie told him that it is no longer safe to be near the area for surely the police would take him for aiding Marimar. He must flee before he gets caught. When the young man admits he is worried for Marimar, Natalia calmly suggests, “Dapat sagipin mo muna ang sarili mo bago ang iba.” (You should try and save yourself first before you go on and save others.) Convinced, Choi runs away with Natalia.
Marimar, now doubtful of any good deed Angelika does to her, asks why she is letting her go. Angelika tells Marimar that the reason why she is letting her go is because Sergio wrote her a letter pleading to free her. Marimar’s spirits lift a little hearing Sergio’s name as well as his request from Angelika.
Back in the Santibanez resort, the phone rings in Corazon’s kitchen. Corazon answers and is glad to find Sergio on the other line. She is about to tell him the tragic events that have happened to Marimar of late but Monica takes the phone from her while Diego points a knife at her to shut her up. Monica talks to Sergio and when Sergio asks about the letter he sent for Marimar, Monica denies having received any such letter. Sergio asks to talk to Corazon or Arturo but Monica tells him that both are unavailable at this time. Monica ends the call and she and Diego burn the contents of the package meant for Marimar.
Angelika informs Marimar that Sergio also has a letter for her. She shows an envelope that Marimar tries to grab but Angelika shakes it away. She orders Marimar to kneel down. When Marimar has done so, Angelika orders Marimar to say that she is the winner and that she is so much better than Marimar. Marimar swallows all her pride and takes in all the humiliation, following everything that Angelika orders her to do. Marimar succumbs, “Oo Angelika, panalo ka na. Magaling ka Angelika.” (Yes Angelika, you win; you are the best Angelika.) Fulgoso is tied feet and mouth and lies on the ground. Finally Angelika says in disgust, “You’re so pathetic, Marimar! Ay nakalimutan ko hindi ka pala marunong Mag-Ingles,” (I forgot that you do not understand English.) and laughs as she throws the letter at the still kneeling Marimar. Marimar picks up the letter and hugs it as she cries.
Gustavo and Esperanza dine with Renato and his lawyer. Renato excuses himself and his lawyer and when alone, Renato tells his lawyer that he wants to sell the resort as soon as possible. His lawyer reminds him that he would be unable to do so without Sergio’s approval and signature. His deceased wife and Sergio’s mother left the resort equally between them making their shares 50-50. If Gustavo wants to become majority owner of the resort, Renato needs to sell at least 51% of the resort to him. This means he needs Sergio to agree to sell at least 1% of his shares to their new partner. Renato tells his lawyer that he doesn’t want to involve Sergio in this because his son would never approve of selling the resort. He knows Sergio values the resort and his mother’s legacy. However his lawyer is firm in stating, they need Sergio’s approval and signature on the documents if they are to proceed in this business deal with Gustavo Aldama.
Fifi runs to the tied-up Fulgoso asking him how he is and she’s been quite worried about him. Fulgoso asks Fifi, “Iwan mo na yan si Angelika demonita. Sumama ka na sa amin ni Marimar. Magtanan na tayo.” (Leave that demonic Angelika. Come with me and Marimar. Let’s elope.) To this Fifi asks him if he’d saved up enough so they can live and raise their pups well. Fulgoso suggests stealing some of Fifi’s dog food to take with them when they leave. Fifi is unsure and leaves Fulgoso still tied.
Marimar opens the letter and looks at it for a few seconds. She then hugs it and continues to cry. Just then, Angelika laughs as she realizes Marimar cannot even read! She takes the letter and reads it for Marimar. The letter states that Sergio now severs all ties he ever had with Marimar. He admits that he only used her to make Angelika jealous. He adds that he married her in the hopes to win back Angelika whom he truly loves. He tells her that it was all for show and that he never really loved her as he bids her goodbye.
Marimar denies the contents of the letter defending Sergio and her love for each other. Angelika shows her pictures of her and Sergio – pictures when they were lovers. Marimar looks at each one as she continues to shake her head in denial, tears flowing endlessly from her eyes.
Esperanza talks to Gustavo once they were left alone. She admits she does not trust Renato and it would be better to check out other resorts nearby to see if they can get a better deal. Esperanza is sure that they would be able to find newer ones up for sale as well as ones that are better maintained, but Gustavo had already set his heart on this one and adds that Renato seems to be a reasonable and upright man. In his office, Renato signs the deed and forges Sergio’s signature beside his.
Angelika explains to the weeping Marimar that she and Sergio planned all this to happen. She and Sergio have been lovers even before she married his father and also when he married Marimar. Marimar continues to deny all this prompting Angelika to ask, where is Sergio now, and why did he never tell Marimar that he loved her? Marimar says she felt Sergio’s love for her. They way he cared for her is clear that he loves her despite him not having said it. Angelika shouts, “Ilusyonada ka! Ako lang ang mahal ni Sergio at hindi ikaw!” (You’re delusional! Sergio loves only me; he never loved you!)
Angelika asks Nicandro to bring Arturo to them to verify all her claims. An obviously hurt Arturo is dragged in by Nicandro. Angelika orders him to tell Marimar who is Sergio’s girlfriend before he married Marimar. Angelika commands Arturo to tell Marimar how Sergio reacted when he heard that she married Renato. Arturo admits this is true before. He kept saying, “noon” (before; back then). Arturo wants to assure Marimar that this is no longer the case now but Angelika slaps him and Nicandro punches him hard on the guts leaving him to double in pain.
Marimar falls back to the ground when she realizes that what Angelika is claiming is true. She asks how Sergio could keep this from her. She questions the way Sergio used and fooled her. Angelika laughs, “Kawawa ka naman.” (I feel sorry for you.)
Renato admits to his lawyer that he forged Sergio’s signature when the lawyer asked how Sergio could sign the document so quickly when he is in Macau. His lawyer warns him that he could be sent to jail for what he has done. Renato assures his lawyer that he has no intentions of going to jail, nor does he have any intentions of selling the Santibanez resort. He needs money so he is going to give fake documents to Gustavo to get it but he will not be getting even a single grain of sand off his resort. His lawyer can only stare in disbelief at his client’s duplicity.
Angelika continues to mock and laugh at Marimar who is now left with nothing, not even Sergio’s love. In Macau, the innocent Sergio is surrounded by his team and well-wishers who witnessed his first win.
Nicandro drags Marimar further into the tall wild grasses that grow untended on the hills. He drags her to a spot where there is a steep drop and points a gun at her head. Angelika takes the gun from Nicandro and tells Marimar to turn around. Across the ocean, Kim asks Sergio for a speech to which he includes in the few words he said that he sadly regrets not having his wife with him but dedicates his win to her.
Angelika pointing the gun at Marimar’s head says, “Tutuldukan ko na ang napaka-tragic mong buhay.” (I’m putting an end to your tragic life.)
Marimar pleads for Angelika’s mercy but she haughtily replies, “Diyos lang ang marunong maawa Marimar. Sad to say, mukha lang akong diyosa pero hindi ako diyos.” (Only God knows mercy, Marimar. I may look like a goddess but sad to say that I am not God.)
In China, everyone raise their glasses to Marimar as Sergio says that surely Marimar is proud of him and adds, “To my loving wife, para sa iyo ito…to Marimar.” (To my loving wife, this is for you…to Marimar.) Angelika shoots Marimar square in the chest as Sergio raises his toast. Marimar falls and rolls down the hill as scenes of her past flashes back before us…her life with Sergio and her grandparents and how brief it all seems in retrospect.
Angelika commands Nicandro to go down the hill to make sure her nemesis is indeed dead while she hands him the gun. Nicandro tries to follow but he almost slipped on the uneven land. Seeing Angelika walking away, he looks down the hill and hesitates. The ruffian decides to save his own skin than risk breaking his own neck in making sure that Marimar is dead. He takes one look down the hill and leaves Marimar to her fate.
Down the hill we see Marimar moan and stir just a little.

Marimar Episode 33 – The one where Marimar buries her grandparents
Angelika, carrying Fifi, looks on happily at the growing flames from across the ocean, to the island where the Perez’ hut is now gobbled by the flames of the fire started by her lapdog Nicandro with the help of the spiteful Natalia. She says, “Marimar, hindi mo ako kaya. Hindi mo kaya si Angelika Santibanez,” (Marimar, you cannot beat me. You cannot beat Angelika Santibanez) as she gives out another heartless, cruel laugh.
In Macau, Sergio asks Antonio for their training schedule. He explains that he wants to get a couple of days leave so he can go to the Philippines and check on his wife. An odd feeling has been bugging him: something is amiss and not well with his wife. He would feel better if he sees for himself what is truly the matter back home. His friend Antonio concedes that there may be a possibility to get a few days off. Sergio thanks his friend and pleads to allow him a few days to see his wife. Marimar is his inspiration in this race after all.
Padre Porres arrives at the island and sees the burning hut. He and a young lad help Choi move the unconscious bodies of Pancho and Cruz to a safer place. Marimar runs to her grandparents in tears crying out their names.
Gustavo, Esperanza and Renato dine to seal their deal. When Gustavo asks whether they have a deal, Renato confirms that indeed they do.
Meanwhile Angelika is back at the resort calling the chief of police. She is told that Marimar has escaped. Angelika orders them to do all in their power to capture her back. She even promises a hefty reward should they succeed. Cutting the conversation and replacing the phone, she says, “Kawawang Marimar. Mabuti nga sa iyo, malandi ka kasi!” (A pity on poor Marimar. Serves you right though for being such a flirt.)
It seems that despite Marimar’s tragic blows; it is a night of celebration for many: Gustavo, Esperanza and Renato toast to seal their new business partnership; Angelika and Monica drink to their victorious plotting against Marimar; and Nicandro and Natalia get away with arson and murder. When Nicandro asks the young woman whether she is scared, the surprises him with her reply: No, Not afraid, more like happy and excited at the same time. The slimy Nicandro then suggests, “Ba’t di na lang tayo ang love team?” (Why not you and me fall in love like a love team?) Natalia suddenly talks to an invisible sister telling her how she’s got one up on Marimar. She even introduced Nicandro to her long dead sister. Whether this scares the thug, he did not show it but he was a bit put off by the young lady’s apparent lunacy.
Antonio then comes up with a brilliant plan to help his homesick friend. Why not bring Marimar to Macau? He knows someone who can arrange for her ticket and travel papers but they would need her passport. Sergio admits Marimar does not have one and hesitates as it has been impossible contacting her. Antonio says he just needs a picture of Marimar to which Sergio definitely has one. He thanks Antonio for his help but his friend replies that he is only doing this for them to win the race.
At the hospital, the doctor and nurses do everything they can for the elderly couple but they are both declared DOA (dead on arrival). Marimar denies this and cries. Padre Porres tries to comfort her. Marimar begs the goodly priest to talk to God and ask Him to give them back to her. “Kausapin nyo ang Panginoon, sabihin ninyo na hindi ko kaya mawala si Lolo Pancho at Lola Cruz.” (Please talk to God, tell him I cannot bear to lose grandma Cruz and grandpa Pancho.) Marimar keeps hugging them and calling for them to wake up. The priest and Choi can only look on with pity for her. It is a long time after Marimar finally accepts that her grandparents are gone. She cries for the lost chance to talk to them, the opportunity to hug them, and regrets that the time they shared together was too short.
The police come to take Marimar away but the priest begs to give her some time to grieve. He assures the police that he will look after her and make sure she doesn’t flee. He asks them to respect the dead and give Marimar a chance to bury her grandparents first before they take her away to prison again.
The letter for Marimar from Sergio arrives at the Villa Santibanez but as usual, everything is intercepted and screened by Angelika and her minions, Perfecta and Monica. The package will never reach Marimar.
Marimar rests after a harrowing time with the burning hut and with her grandparents dying at the hospital. She dreams about Pancho and Cruz. They both love her very much and even if they do still want to be around so they can care for her, they now must move on to the next life. They tell their granddaughter to go and find her own family. They ask her to be strong despite all the trials that she is facing and is about to face. They tearfully bid her goodbye in her dreams.
She awakes to find Padre Porres by her bed looking on with pity and understanding. She tells him about her dreams. He reminds her that today is the day they are to bury Pancho and Cruz so Marimar must get ready. He also advises her to be strong as her grandparents had told her. He suggests that prayers and faith can help where nothing else can. Padre Porres gives Marimar a medallion of the Virgin Mary and tells Marimar to wear it at all times. Mama Mary from now on will be her protection and guide.
Pancho and Cruz are buried on top of the hill. Only Marimar, Padre Porres and Fulgoso are in attendance. Only a wooden cross marks each of their graves. Fulgoso bids farewell to the elder couple. Marimar cries on Cruz’ tomb, “Napakahirap po para sa akin na mawala kayo ni Lolo Pancho.” (It is truly difficult for me to lose you and grandfather Pancho.) She thanks Cruz for taking care of her and for raising her like their own. She tells her that she loves her as she bids her grandmother goodbye. On Pancho’s grave, Marimar cries, “Hindi ko makakalimutan lahat ng payo nyo sa akin.” (I will never forget all the advice that you have given me.) She also tells her grandfather that he will always be in her heart and she loves him as she also bids her grandfather goodbye.
Police come to take her away in handcuffs and ignores Padre Porres’ pleas to give Marimar more time.

Marimar Episode 32 – The one with the burning hut
Following the accusations of Angelika and the order by Renato to put Marimar in prison the police take the crying Marimar to jail. Choi runs after the vehicle to help his crush but Natalia stops him. Choi feels very sorry for Marimar but Natalia just laughs off saying, “Yeah, she’s truly pitiable, indeed” and walks off quite pleased.
Perfecta is rummaging in the kitchen for some food to eat and Corazon accuses her of telling lies about Marimar to the police. “What wrong has she ever done to you?” demands the plump cook of Perfecta who doesn’t even seem to care that she’s just sent an innocent Marimar to prison. Suddenly, Perfecta chokes on the food she’s eating and asks for Corazon’s help to get some water. Corazon leaves her with a snide remark, “Serves you right, I hope you choke to death.” and walks out of the kitchen in a vindicated huff.
Gustavo is on the phone speaking to his staff about a property he wants to purchase in the San Martin dela Costa area. The person on the other line tells him there is one property that is possible but the owner wanted to keep majority shares and sell of a portion to investors. Gustavo stresses he wants to gain majority of the shares so he can control the company. He commands his staff to investigate further and get back to him.
Renato meets with his lawyer who tells him about this investor who wants to buy off majority of the shares of his resort. He will still be part-owner but will be a minority share-holder. His lawyer advises Renato that this is the best chance he has if he wants to get more money. Renato is obviously quite hesitant as he thinks of other ways of solving his financial crisis, however, selling seems to be the only way to go.
Corazon wakes Arturo up in a hurry telling him to call Sergio quickly and tell him a tragedy had befallen on his poor wife. Marimar is sent to jail by the lies created by Angelika and Perfecta. Arturo tries to wheedle his way out of having to call Sergio knowing that Angelika owns him now and tells Corazon that his cell is broken. “We can use my phone,” exclaims the goodly cook but again Arturo makes other excuses. Feeling the wishy-washy and cowardly excuses of Arturo, Corazon walks off calling both Perfecta and Arturo the devils.
Marimar is booked and jailed while she continues to plead the policemen to help her and that she is truly innocent. But they are stern and tell her to shut up. The police handling her shoves her in the barred cage with an unsentimental remark, “Mabulok ka diyan!” as Marimar slumps in her cell. She is not alone though, a shady looking woman is already there and now shares the tiny cell with her.
Back in the Perez hut, Cruz is fearful for Marimar. It’s been days and she is not yet home. She worries that she’d already been jailed but Pancho assures her that Marimar is innocent of any crime. Just then Choi arrives and confirms their fears. Both jump up in shock lamenting that Marimar is just a poor unsuspecting victim being a very good person inside-out. Choi knows this and the young man suggests that they should all just calm down and attend to Marimar at once. Fulgoso goes with them as well worried for his mistress unfortunate state.
Angelika is talking with their lawyer and is clearly upset that despite her scheming, the police will only be able to keep Marimar in jail for a maximum of three days and will be set free thereafter. The lawyer explains that Marimar’s case does not have any hard evidence and the witnesses’ statements, that of Perfecta’s and Corazon’s, contradict each other.
It was a tearful visit to Marimar’s cell as Pancho and Cruz pity their granddaughter’s plight and yet are quite helpless to be able to give her some form of hope or comfort. Cruz tells her to be strong and to pray for guidance. Pancho assures her that they are with her all the way and would never leave her. Fulgoso and Choi are silent but are obvious champions of Marimar.
Angelika and Monica discuss the futility of getting Marimar stay in jail longer. They need to come up with another plan that will get rid of Marimar for good. Just then, an idea occured to the evil Angelika. If Marimar no longer has a home in the island, then perhaps she will have to go make her home somewhere else. So long as she is not longer in the area when Sergio returns. Angelika must act quickly. Monica is shocked at her friend’s latest plot but can only watch as Angelika pushes on.
The police tells the elderly couple that visiting time is over and they must leave the prisoner new. They are worried that something worse might happen to Marimar so they ask Choi to stay, even outside the prison but within the area, and keep and eye on their granddaughter. The gallant young lad agrees as the couple go and seek the guidance and help of Padre Porres.
Sergio burns tires as he completes a practice race, his best time yet declares Antonio and is quite pleased that his friend is now concentrating on the race and doing well. Sergio winces as he admits that he does miss his wife very much but has decided to be more focused and do what he came here to do. Antonio nudges him and points Kim who is not far away, suggesting that there are many ways to get amused if he wants to. Sergio knows his friend is only teasing so he just ignores him.
Angelika meets with Nicandro in the resort gardens and orders the brute to go and burn down the hut where Marimar and her grandparents live. Natalia overhears their conversation and butts in. Angelika warns her that should this come out, her ass, meaning Natalia’s, will be on the line. Natalia surprised both Angelika and Nicandro when she didn’t balk and instead clarified to the two that she is interested in helping them out. Angelika is pleased to know that Natalia is an ally and that she isn’t the only one in the resort who wants to get rid of Marimar.
Kim introduces a fellow racer to Sergio and tries to cook up a little competition by asking both to race. Kim declares that she will award the winner 1 million Hong Kong dollars. Both racers look eager to race.
The horse owner takes back his horse from Angelika whose check bounced. When she asks Renato, her husband just shrugs and says, “I told you not to get that horse in the first place.” Angelika then fearfully asks, “Honey, you’re broke?” to which Renato just says, “And what if I am?” Disbelieving, Angelika cries, “No, you can’t be!”
Choi visits Marimar again and brings her some food. Marimar thanks Choi for being a good and kind friend to her. In fact she is sad that her husband Sergio is not with her now. It seems he doesn’t care for her anymore. Choi tells her that Sergio is indeed no here because he went off to Macau. This only makes Marimar sadder as she feels Sergio’s forgotten all about her.
Sergio wins the race and Kim hands him the cheque. He refuses it and says he only did it for fun. Kim seems to be more impressed with her crush. Quite an upstanding guy, loyal to his wife, not opportunistic, a real good partner – with a flirtatious stress on the word, partner. She then prods Sergio to take it and consider it a welcome gift from her and a bonus to their purely-business partnership.
After the embarrassment of the horse and Angelika’s distress, Renato contacts his lawyers and decides to push through with meeting this mysterious investor. He asks his staff to set-up the meeting.
Meantime armed men turn up in prison and rescue the other female prisoner leaving the previously locked prison open. Choi and Marimar take their chance and flee right after the group.
Nicandro and Natalia arrive on the island where the Perez’ hut is the sole structure. He asks the lady again if she is certain that she will help him. Natalia confirms and states that Marimar owes her and it’s about time she earned some payback to even the score. She helps Nicandro soak the hut with gasoline. The couple are asleep and do not suspect their life is in grave danger. Fulgoso sense something and wakes up. The dog finds Natalia. When Fulgoso growls , Natalia scurries off. Nicandro ignites the gasoline-drenched hut and it quickly grew huge flames.
Sergio calls up his father and tells him that he will be sending some money to help fund their dwindling business. Renato rejects his sons offer telling him that six million pesos is but loose change to what he has; updating Sergio of an investor that would be willing to pump in a lot of money into the resort. He advises his son to keep his money and ends it with a cold, “I don’t want it and I don’t need it.” as he cuts off the line. Then he meets his investor for the first time. It is none other than Gustavo Aldama who also introduces his cousin, Esperanza, to Renato.
Pancho awakes amidst smoke and flames and goes over to awaken and help Cruz, both seem to be trapped in and are getting suffocated by the smoke. They scream for help but being isolated, who would be able to come to their aid? Just then, Marimar and Choi arrive and they see the giant flames eating the hut. Marimar screams for her grandparents and runs to save them but Choi stops her. Fulgoso runs to Marimar who can only watch in shock as the home she knew gets eaten by the fire. Nicandro and Natalia look on hidden at the now-glowing hut.
From across the island, Angelika watches in delight as the flames get more bigger. She is holding a totally disgruntled Fifi who claims she now also hates her mistress for being such and evil person. Angelika doesn’t know this instead she mischievously says, “Layas ka na, Marimar” and laughs.
Marimar begs Choi to help the grandparents. He tells Marimar to stay put and the gallant, young man runs into the flames to rescue Pancho and Cruz.
Next: Pancho and Cruz were saved by Choi and had been taken to the hospital with the help of Padre Porres but both are dead on arrival. Corazon gets a call from Sergio and now at last, the truth about what’s been going on while he’s gone has a chance of getting told.
My take: So Corazon has a phone! Couldn’t she have asked Arturo to give her the number so she can contact, even text, Sergio? I’m sure Choi must have one too…at this day and age! So why only rely on Arturo’s phone….namaaaan!
Quotables: Angelika to her new-found ally Natalia: “So hindi lang pala ako ang galit kay Marimar. Meron pa pala siyang kaaway dito sa Villa Santibanez.”
Renato to Sergio, “Aanhin ko ang six million eh barya lang yan?”

Marimar Episode 31 – The one where Marimar gets framed
Marimar cries as she bites off the diamond studded bracelet off the muddy puddle. Angelika laughs in triumph. When our heroine asks the latter why she is so mean to her, Angelika just shrugs the question off and haughtily replies she is very happy because Marimar had been very entertaining today. She further deplores Marimar being filthy and full of mud, showing off how world’s apart they are in terms of class and status. Angelika even thanks the grieving Marimar for making her a very happy woman and leaves off riding on her horse.
Gustavo looks at a picture of the young Marimar and hopes to find her. He also hopes that the necklace he had given his daughter is still with her, the one that he had made especially, bearing Marimar’s name.
Monica is flirting with Angelika’s bodyguard, Diego, at the pool when Angelika arrives and thanks her friend for keeping Diego occupied. Angelika is in a very happy mood and when Monica asks why, she tells her friend how she was able to trick Marimar into first kissing her foot then pushing her down into a pool of mud. Nicandro arrives with Marimar’s necklace and Angelika asks the slime whether Marimar recognized who he was or if she suspected anything. Nicandro denies anything suspicious and Angelika is happy that her new plan to bring about Marimar’s downfall seems to be going really well. Angelika had already dismissed the thug but he stills stands about and when the former asks why he is still there, he replies he is hoping for some form of reward for his latest job. Angelika snaps at him to get lost having no more use for him for the moment to which Nicandro quickly follows. Angelika stares at Marimar’s necklace and inspects it. She decides it is a worthless fake and throws it away. Someone picks it up.
Kim and Sergio are having dinner with the former wanting the young racers to be her business partner. She plans to build a race track in the Philippines and wants Sergio to head it. She gives Sergio the proposal and asks him to read it in bed later that evening. This would give the man a chance to think about her in bed, she seductively suggests to a somber Sergio.
Sergio updates his pal, Antonio about Kim’s proposal. The former is quite excited about the plan but Antonio slips commenting Sergio is Kim’s current object of interest; the billionairess’ boy toy. This pricks Sergio and puts a gloomy cloud in his current elated mood.
Renato is in a grave meeting with his financial team who are in dire straits as after all the bank loan that he approved, very little money is left to support the resort. His team tells him they had to pay off many debts in order to avoid legal repercussions. This leaves Renato very frustrated knowing there is not much money left. His advisers tell him they need new investors to pump the much needed capital into the resort to save it from going out of business.
Choi is with the uber-sexy Natalia who is wearing a tiny black two-piece swimming suit. The young man updates his childhood friend that Marimar is indeed pregnant and he feels sorry for her with Sergio being far away leaving Marimar alone. Natalia snaps at Choi commenting that it is only right for Marimar to be left behind by Sergio because she’s such an over-acting drama queen. Choi is surprised at Natalia’s outburst thinking her to be Marimar’s friends. She had been quite friendly to Marimar before she’d been thrown out of the resort but Natalia defends she is now mad at Marimar for the way she treated Angelika, pushing her down the stairs and killing her unborn baby in the process. The young woman thinks Marimar is pure evil. Choi defends Marimar saying that she is quite a good person and it is Angelika who has a questionable and shady personality. It just further incenses Natalia, who says perhaps Marimar had used magical trickery to force Choi to like her so much, then leaves off in a huff and dives into the pool.
Kim is having breakfast with Sergio and the latter declines her offer stating clearly that he is not interested in being tricked into a partnership that would require him to do ‘other’ things not related to business. Kim revealed that she has done a study of their resort and knows the real score regarding the Santibanez fortunes. She is extending her help to him and he is wise to accept it. Sergio reiterates he will only accept the offer on purely business terms. He insists that he is a married man who is madly in love with his wife. This stops Sergio short, realizing the gravity of what he had just said. He whispers, almost to himself that he had never told this to his wife, but he intends to tell her. He asks for Kim to release his papers and working permit as he is under suspension and would prefer to go back to the Philippines and be with Marimar. He adds that he is flattered by her attentions but he is truly in love with Marimar whom he intends to go back home to as soon as possible. Sergio leaves a very thoughtful Kim alone who only says one word, “Marimar.”
Sergio finally caught Arturo on the phone with the latter apologizing to his boss that he’d gotten his phone broken and that is why he’d been unreachable the past few days. Unknown to Sergio, Angelika is right there dictating to Arturo what he must say. When Sergio inquires about Marimar, Arturo lies and says the reason why Marimar is always out is that she is spending a lot of time with Choi and she seems to be enjoying this, not even missing Sergio one bit. Angelika glowers on Arturo forcing him to say these words to the unsuspecting Sergio who is now quite incensed at how Marimar is reacting to his absence. Sergio even asks why Marimar doesn’t ask Corazon or him, Arturo, to accompany her instead of Choi. When Arturo was pressed for an answer, he weasels a lame excuse that he is busy and pretends to have a low battery and must get off. Angelika is happy with the results of Arturo’s conversation with Sergio and complements Arturo’s acting. She then takes the phone from Arturo and tells the closet gay that it is her turn at some acting. Angelika dials the police and reports a robbery. She declared her bracelet had been stolen by Marimar and tells them where to find her.
The police ransack the hut of Pancho and Cruz looking for the reportedly stolen bracelet. Pancho and Cruz defend Marimar’s innocence but she arrives with the bracelet in her hand. Immediately they handcuffed her as her grandparents plead them to let her go. Marimar cries and explains there must have been a misunderstanding as Angelika had given her the bracelet earlier. She implores the policemen to take her to the Santibanez resort first so she can clear things up, confident that Angelika would back her up. Meanwhile Angelika calls Renato telling him about the so-called breaking and robbery and asks his husband to come home quickly.
Sergio is in a gloomy mood and had changed his mind about going home. He says his wife does not seem to be missing him so he will stay and finish the race. Besides, he reasons he doesn’t want to go home with nothing to show for to his judgmental father, Renato who will only laugh at how much a coward and a loser he is. He also asks for Antonio to be the go-between for him with Kim and ask her to reconsider her business proposal but this time he insists it is a purely business partnership. Antonio is happy that his friend is now determined and focus on the race. Sergio assures him that they will win this race.
The police take Marimar to see Angelika who denies Marimar’s claims accusing her that she stole her bracelet. Renato arrives as Angelika acts the scared victim telling her husband how Marimar had gone into their bedroom and stolen the diamond bracelet. The police ask for witnesses who can back her story prompting Renato to call on Corazon and Perfecta who were the ones left in the resort all the time.
Pancho and Cruz are left worried in their small hut. Pancho regrets that being his age, he cannot even be strong enough to defend their granddaughter. However he is confident of Marimar’s innocence trusting that despite being poor, they have properly raised her to be God-fearing, honest and law-abiding. He is sure that after a while the police will set her free.
Meanwhile Sergio and his team are in high spirits because of Sergio’s decision to stay and race. They are having a party and Kim and Sergio exchange smiles after the young man declares, if they are partying in the Philippines, we they might as well party here in Macau, too.
Later, after heavy partying, a drunken Sergio is assisted to bed by Antonio as Kim tags along. When Sergio slumps on the bed, Kim lies down beside him and orders Antonio to leave them alone with a knowing smile.
Back at the resort, Corazon admitted that she did see Marimar but only in the beachfront area and never inside the resort’s premises, especially not in the private residence of Renato and Angelika. However Perfecta claimed she saw Marimar sneak into the couple’s room and take the bracelet. Marimar tells Perfecta she is lying and in fact, they have never seen each other but Perfecta insists on what she saw. Marimar asks Angelika to do the right thing by her and tell the truth which leads Angelika to emote that Marimar is not only a thief she is also a killer reminding her how she killed their baby. This angers Renato who dismisses Corazon and Perfecta and orders the police to take Marimar to jail.
Kim kisses Sergio on the lips when the young man starts to call out Marimar’s name. Sergio, thinking it is indeed his wife kisses back but later pushes Kim away as soon as he realized who it was he was kissing. He stands and leaves Kim who smiles at her conquest.
Marimar is resisting the cops who are taking her to prison, she still asks for Angelika’s help but she just continues to deny anything Marimar claims. Marimar is crying and calling Angelika a liar over and over again, as the police drag her to the vehicle that will take her to prison.
Next: Nicandro burns down Pancho and Cruz hut at Angelika’s bidding.
My take: If Arturo and Sergio are indeed close since childhood, then they must have several secret coded languages that is meaningful only to them and can perhaps use this to converse without seeming to pass on information to the unsuspecting Angelika. Also there is the text messaging that they can use, so that Angelika would be unable to know that Arturo is talking and passing information to Sergio about what is really going on with Marimar. Again Renato should have recognized the disputed bracelet as belonging to his departed wife. For all his possessive tendencies over Villa Santibanez, he failed at the one thing that appears to be of such value to Sergio and his mother. Who picked up Marimar’s necklace? Could it be the slimy Nicandro hoping to extract a few pesos from it in the pawnshop? I hope it is Choi who can restore it to Marimar. How can Angelika and Perfecta sleep at night with all the lies and scheming that they do, and Monica too? I can’t wait for Marimar’s transformation to the rich heiress that she will soon be. Did you think Sergio and Kim’s kiss hot? Lucky part for Dingdong having all these gorgeous ladies clamor for him eh?
Quotables: Angelika full of disgust and loathing to the muddied Marimar, “Ginawa mong baboy ang sarili mo, nilublob mo sa putikan.”
Kim handing her proposal to Sergio whom she desires, “I want you to read it tonight in bed para naman naiisip mo ako.”
Sergio to Kim about her proposal for a partnership, “I’m a married man and I’m madly in love with my wife,” then adds, “I’m flattered but I have to decline your offer.”
Angelika to Arturo’s lying to Sergio, “Pang-best actor ka pala eh, este best actress pala.”
Still Angelika to Arturo after she’s called the police about Marimar stealing her bracelet, “Winner, aminin mo yan.”
Marimar, pleading Renato to believe he, “Senor mahirap lang po ako pero hindi po ako magnanakaw.”

Marimar Episode 30 – The one with all that mud
Marimar faints as Padre Pores successfully stops her from taking her life. She is also bleeding. Meanwhile Sergio stops his race car with his friend demanding why he is driving like a mad man. Sergio replies he just wants to test the cars capabilities.
Back at the resort, Renato asks her secretary to prepare a cheque for his wife’s allowance as well as another one for their household expenses. His secretary tell him that they need to transfer funds from his personal account into the resort’s account in order for the cheques to clear. Renato is worried that until now, there is still no money generated from the resort.
Padre Pores and the nurse talk about Marimar’s condition. The nurse confirms that Marimar is indeed pregnant, showing the results from a pregnancy kit. She also assures the priest that Marimar is not in any danger but will need to get a proper ultrasound to see how the baby is doing as she did have some bleeding.
Sergio and Antonio are discussing more racing tactics but clearly, Sergio’s heart and mind is not in it. He is calling someone off his cell phone as his friend is talking about the race. When his friend scolds him for not paying attention, Sergio complains that all they do is talk and talk but they are in Macau to race yet no race seems to be happening. Antonio tells him to calm down and suspends him for his brash actions.
Fulgoso watches over the sleeping Marimar and sees the food prepared for her on the table. He tries to get a piece of bread and eat it. He is caught in the act by Padre Pores but ignores the deed as Marimar awakes. The priest asks the young woman to have something to eat but she refuses telling the priest that life no longer holds any meaning for her as Sergio and her are now far apart. Padre Pores tells her she must not make Sergio the sole center of her life. Besides she has something more meaningful to look forward to and the priest reveals that she is pregnant, carrying Sergio’s child. This puts a bright smile on Marimar’s face, the first one in many days since being parted from her husband.
Having eaten and changed into fresh clothes, Marimar is helping out do some church chores. She is sweeping the floors when Pancho and Cruz arrive. They tell her they know that she doesn’t want to see them but ask for her to understand whatever it is they did in the past. Marimar still declines to talk to them and Cruz asks her if she does not care for them anymore. Marimar runs away as Padre Porres arrives. The elderly couple asks for the priest help in talking to Marimar.
Marimar is in Padre Porres’ office and she admits that what she did is bad but she is still upset with her grandparents for keeping her in the dark about her true identity. The priest assures Marimar that he understands how she feels but she must never forget that Pancho and Cruz for whatever faults they may have, truly love her and have raised her as their own. She may want to go and look for her own parents but she can never deny that the couple who she knows to be her grandparents truly adore and love her. This softens Marimar a bit as she listens to the good priest’s advice.
Corazon is asking Arturo to call Sergio and tell him that Marimar had run away from her grandparents’ home. The cook insists that this matter must be relayed as soon as possible to Sergio but Arturo dodges it explaining he still has lots to do and that his hands are tied. Corazon tells him that Sergio had made a mistake for trusting someone like him. Angelika smiles as she looks on the exchange.
Sergio is suspended and is in his hotel room trying to contact Marimar. He is surprised to see Kim Chan enter using another key card. The young woman declares that her money can open any door that is locked. She charms her way into Sergio’s attentions, seducing the young man unabashedly. However all her efforts go to waste as Sergio declares that he wants to go home to his wife whom he loves above anything else. Kim tells him he cannot as she holds all his documents including his passport and working permit so he must stay and race for her. Kim is amazed at how difficult it is to seduce Sergio. She tells him she is more impressed by his hard-to-get approach but Sergio says he is not joking. He truly loves his wife and excuses himself. Kim tells him he is the first man to have ever done this to her. Sergio just shrugs as he walks off.
Angelika catches Arturo who is trying to contact Sergio and takes his phone away from him. With Monica helping, the two bi-atches step on the phone till it breaks. Angelika then reminds Arturo to whom his loyalties should like if he wants to see his siblings finish college.
Marimar gets another visit from Pancho and Cruz and this time she talks to them asking for their forgiveness for how she acted. The couple also asked for her to forgive them for their shortcomings and all is well as they are reunited. Back in their hut, Pancho and Cruz give Marimar the necklace they found with her. They said that she couldn’t remember who she was or who her parents were but they knew that her name would have to be Marimar based on the necklace she was wearing. Both elders admitted that they should really have given it to hear earlier as well as told her the truth. Marimar thanked them for this beautiful token and for taking care of it and her in all these years.
Angelika is asking Renato if he could buy her a horse. She says that she is bored and needs a new hobby. Renato suggests taking care of Fifi but Angelika junks this and tells her husband that she had already ordered riding clothes and there is a batch of horses that came fresh from Africa. She has no idea how poor they are and Renato is silently mulling on this information.
Corazon and Choi are by the beach front talking to a happier Marimar in days. She tells her friends that she is pregnant and both are happy and congratulate her. She says that now, more that ever, she must find and be with Sergio. Corazon gives her a hug and notices her beautiful necklace. She tells them how she got it and Corazon has an idea. She tells Marimar that she can use this to pawn it and get some money. She can then use the money to purchase a ticket to Macau. It is a way to be with Sergio. Marimar thanks them for this and seems keen on their suggestion. Nearby, the nosey Perfecta listens in on their conversation.
Monica and Angelika meet the gay designed the latter has commissioned to create her riding clothes. The tailor tells her that he hasn’t done her orders yet because her cheques bounced. To this Angelika explodes saying that a Santibanez cheque never bounces and screams at the tailor to get lost. Perfecta arrives with her latest gossip which further infuriates Angelika.
Nicandro in ski mask disguises himself as he sets up Marimar so he can steal her necklace. Marimar screams and Fulgoso runs after the thief saying he seems to know that particular smell. However Marimar bumps into another passerby and falls. She winces in pain as she puts a hand on her belly.
Marimar and Fulgoso walk having been unable to catch the criminal who stole her necklace. Angelika in her new horse and riding outfit confronts Marimar and asks him how much she loves Sergio. Would she be willing to do anything just to be with Sergio? To this Marimar replies, yes. Angelika then gets off her horse and gives Marimar her foot. She orders Marimar to kneel before her and kiss her shoes. She is a rich woman with many connections; she can help Marimar so she can fly to Macau and be with Sergio. Despite the humiliation, Marimar kisses Angelika’s booted foot. The villain now shows Marimar a bracelet that Marimar recognizes as hers – the one Sergio gave her – and Angelika admits that it is indeed and she is now returning it to her. Angelika drops the bracelet into the mud. When Marimar moves to pick it up, she hits Marimar’s hand with her whip and tells Marimar that she can only get it with her mouth. In all humility, Marimar who is now in tears bends down to pick up the bracelet with her mouth and as she does this, Angelika further steps on her head to push her further into the mud. She bears this as she bites the bracelet and keeps it securely in her mouth.
Next: Arturo lies to Sergio that Marimar and Choi are always together prompting Sergio to forget about going home and exacting revenge of Marimar by partying with Kim. Marimar being sent to prison for stealing Angelika’s bracelet.
My take: Renato claims he gave the bracelet to Angelika when it was the same one Marimar claims as her own – given to her by Sergio? Which is which? Surely Renato should be able to recognize his dead wife’s bracelet being an heirloom and all. Sergio should trust Marimar more and not believe anyone even Arturo. By now he should know how Marimar loves him above everyone else, silly man. Why didn’t Sergio also leave his number with Marimar before leaving or her grandparents or Padre Porres? Surely he could have left his number with Corazon too being a trusted staff as well as obviously one of the few who likes and cares for Marimar? Why didn’t he leave a phone when he said goodbye to Marimar? Surely he must know that her grandparents’ hut does not have any electricity? The best person he should have left it to would have been Corazon or Padre Porres who would be sure to look in on Marimar and have her best interests. Arturo, for all his love for Sergio can surely find a way to call him without Angelika knowing, i.e. when he is out of the resort and off doing some driving errands.
Quotables: Kim to Sergio, “Kayang buksan ng salapi ko and bawat pintong nakakandado,” explaining how she can get a key card to Sergio’s hotel room.
Still Kim to Sergio who gallantly refuses her advances, “Ikaw pa lang ang nakakagawa nito sa akin.”
Marimar Episode 29 – The One with the Poker Game
Marimar confronts her grandparents about her past and who she really is. She asks them if they knew where her real parents are. At first, Cruz tried to deny what Marimar overheard, saying that Pancho and she were only joking but Pancho chose to tell Marimar the truth and admit that they found her by the shore and took her in. They have raised her as their own.
Esperanza and Gustavo are checking out a beach property in San Martin dela Costa and the former exclaims how beautiful the place truly is. She stops a while when Gustavo mentions the name of the place, commenting that it sounds familiar. Then it strikes her that this is the place where Gustavo and his family had the tragic plane crash many years ago, where his cousin had lost both his wife, Lupita and daughter, Marimar. Gustavo confirms that indeed this is the place and that is the main reason why he is investing in it, because of the memories of the past. This annoys Esperanza who advises Gustavo to go and get a life. The obviously happy Gustavo just ignores her and continues to admire the place.
Sergio and his team are setting up for a practice run. His friend asks him to join the gang for a bit of fun night out in the nearby bar but Sergio declines declaring he’s here to work and make some money then return to his wife who is waiting for him in the Philippines.
Cruz chastises Pancho for telling Marimar the truth. Marimar asks why they hid the truth from her for so long a time and presses them until when they will have hidden it from her had she not overheard them talking about it? She snaps that they have been fooling her all these years, keeping her in the dark about her true identity. She blames both Pancho and Cruz for keeping her ignorant about her past. This angers Pancho who slaps Marimar in the face. Marimar walks out on the old couple as Cruz blames Pancho about revealing this to Marimar at a time when she is too depressed, longing for Sergio. Pancho defends that they should have done this a long time ago.
Marimar and Fulgoso are by the shore mulling things over. Fulgoso complains that he is quite hungry but Marimar still feels hurt and does not want to go back and see her grandparents yet. Marimar hopes that her parents are still looking for her and haven’t given up in their search, whoever and wherever they are.
Sergio finally got convinced by his friend to attend the party to welcome their team. Their sponsor, Miss Kim Chan will be there and there is nothing wrong with a little public relations to perhaps even increase their prize money. Sergio tries to call Marimar but cannot reach her. He calls Arturo instead and asks his driver whether he has given the cell phone he left him to his wife but Arturo admits that he has not yet done so being quite busy with errands for the resort. He promises to give the phone to Marimar as soon as possible and quickly bids Sergio goodbye on the pretense that his phone’s battery is getting low.
Marimar is running by the shore and accidentally bumps into Esperanza who snaps at her for not watching where she is going. Marimar apologizes and tells Fulgoso how can such a woman be so hostile and unforgiving.
At the hotel lobby, Sergio awaits their sponsor Miss Chan who arrives complete with bodyguards in black suits. Miss Kim Chan looks very pretty and appears to be the epitome of class. Sergio introduces himself and to his surprise, his lady sponsor already seems to know him well.
Pancho and Cruz look for Marimar by the shore. They see Gustavo and decides that perhaps they should ask the kindly looking gentleman if they have seem Marimar pass this way but suddenly Gustavo received a phone call and their plan to talk to him expired.
Kim Chan tells Sergio that she is half-Filipina and half –Chinese so she can speak in Tagalog fairly well. Sergio asks about the poker party and Miss Chan reveals that it will be held in her suite with only her and Sergio playing against each other. She intimates to the young man that she prefers this especially when the game is ‘strip poker’. Shocked at this revelation, Sergio apologizes that he cannot do this and walks away.
Angelika and Nicandro gang up on Arturo in his room. They know his secret: that of being a closet gay. Arturo denies this but they show him his scrapbook full of Sergio’s pictures as well as notes telling how much he is in love with his childhood friend and boss. Angelika is enjoying herself as she opens Arturo’s cupboard to reveal more pictures of Sergio, some with barely any clothes on! When Nicandro insults Arturo for being gay, Angelika quickly defends him and assures the scared Arturo that they will keep his secret under one condition: that he never gives the cell phone to Marimar and he never tells Sergio the truth about what is going on about Marimar life. In short, he is now a pawn in Angelika’s plots to forever severe the ties between Sergio and Marimar. Having no other choice, the gay Arturo agrees.
Sergio is talking with his racing pal, Antonio complaining that he did not come to Macau to go to parties and socialize, he is here to work. He declares his love and loyalty to his wife and wants to put a stop to any further attempts of matchmaking as he is now very much a married man.
Marimar looks very tired from her wanderings and asked permission from the lady tending a bakery if she could sit a while and rest. The kindly lady agrees and even gives Marimar some bread from her shop. Fulgoso is excited about the bread and is more than ready to eat them when he notices that Marimar had fallen asleep. Thinking Marimar is in trouble, he starts to run and finds Padre Porres and asks him for help. Padre Porres wakes Marimar up.
Sergio calls Arturo and asks whether he had given the phone to Marimar. Arturo lies that indeed he has. When Sergio asks whether he had spoken to Marimar, the closet gay fibs that he hasn’t seen Marimar as she is always not around when he visits her. Sergio asks why Marimar is always away and where does she go and to this Arturo promises that he will look in on the matter and update his boss. Arturo tries to add some advice for Sergio, telling him to be careful and take care of himself, but Angelika slaps Arturo forcing him to end the conversation with Sergio. Angelika reminds Arturo that Renato is paying for the education of his younger siblings and if he wants to continue receiving this privilege, he must cooperate with her and do everything that she wills.
Marimar is now with Padre Pores in the church. The priest tells Marimar that her grandparents have been looking for her for days now. She requests a favor from Padre Pores: if she could stay with him for a while as she sorts out her feelings for her grandparents. The priest agrees but informs her that he will send a messenger to Pancho and Cruz so that they will know that she is alive and well and can be found in the church. Marimar pleads not to let her parents come and visit her as she is not yet ready to face them. When the priest leaves, Marimar asks Fulgoso where her parents can be right now. Her fervent hope is that they are still alive. Gustavo in his home is hoping the exact same thing. He prays for Marimar and him to be together again.
Sergio tries to call Marimar again but fails. He is worried about his wife and feels guilty for leaving her. He admits how he longs to be by her side and how much he needs her right this moment.
Marimar is at the church’s altar praying. She laments how she seems to be asking for so many questions to be answered and yet no one of them seems to have one. She prays for Sergio, and sighs at just how much she misses him. Marimar asks for God’s help to send Sergio her message about how she feels so sad and lonely without her husband and hopes that they will be reunited soon.
Across the ocean in Macau, Sergio is doing the same thing – praying for Marimar and telling her how he misses her. How he now longs to have he beside him, see her smile, laugh, or get easily wound up from their teasing. How he longs to have her embrace and kiss him. He prays to God to take care of his wife while he is away and for Marimar to wait for him.
Marimar sees the bell tower. Sergio is still trying to call Marimar. His friend chastises him for not being focused in his training. Marimar climbs up the stairs to the bell tower. Fulgoso sensing something is wrong runs to find Padre Pores.
Marimar is now on top of the tower. She is at the end of her rope and wants to end her life of misery and loneliness. Sergio is in his car, running a practice race. Marimar scream Sergio’s name as his car seems to be in trouble. His car rumbles and skids to a stop.
Padre Pores is on top of the bell tower and asks Marimar to think about what she intends to do. Marimar reasons she cannot take the pain any more. The priest tells her she’s never been a coward and that whatever it is that she is suffering now, she will be able to overcome this. Marimar loses consciousness and the priest catches her fall.
Next episode: The famous mud scene.
My take: Sergio should have just taken Marimar with him to Macau; in that case he won’t be as distracted as he is now. Oh well, but that would have been against the plot. Arturo can still be true to his promise to Sergio while pretending to help Angelika. If he really does love Sergio, he’d go the extra mile to help out his friend. He can call Sergio when he is not in the resort premises so that Angelika wouldn’t be able to catch him telling the truth to Sergio, right? There are many ways to skin a cat, so they say.
Quotables: Cruz to Pancho as they look for Marimar, “Nasaan na kaya ang batang iyon?” to which Pancho, being deaf, replies, “Anong ‘battalion’?”
Kim Chan to Sergio, very seductively, “Oo sa suite ko, tayong dalawa lang. I like my parties to be private, lalo na kung gusto kong mag-strip poker.”
Angelika to Nicandro who is mocking the gay Arturo, “Eh ano naman ngayon kung bakla siya. Tao pa rin sila hindi salot.”
Sergio to Antonio about being loyal to Marimar, “Iniwan ko na nga siya sa Pilipinas, the least I could do is be faithful.”
Gustavo and he speaks in his mind to his missing child, Marimar, “Gabi-gabi kong pinagdarasal na magkasama na tayong muli, anak.”
Sergio to Marimar who is oceans away, “Asan ka na ba Marimar? Bakit kasi nagawa ko pang iwan ka? Marimar sana naririning mo ako ngayon, kailangan kita dito.”
Still Sergio to Marimar (in his mind) “Hinahanap-hanap ko ang iyong ngiti, tawa, magka-pikon, ang iyong mga yakap at halik.”
